The first game to get me excited for quite a while, Fight Night Round 4 promises to build upon the success (in gameplay terms, if not commercially) of the magnificent FNR3.

In fact, FNR3 was so good I’m more than a little nervous of this sequel, fearing that EA will go all ‘Ready 2 Rumble’ on us, introducing unwanted graphical touches.

The biggest news so far seems to be the introduction of ‘Iron Mike’ Tyson on the roster – and a fleshed out career mode.

All good – let’s just hope Round IV delivers!

But this time it’s not some cashing in on a 2D remix on the online console networks, it’s a complete brand new game. Hurrah for the world.

It’s currently available to pre-order from all your favourite online shops (after all, who would trust a high street one now. Ha!) so Capcom better not screw up by doing some horrible Jar Jar Binks type CGI reimagining on Blanka.

Let’s hope the awesome car smashing minigame is also left intact, although I doubt it in these PC times, instead we’ll probably see Ken and Ryu donning luminous yellow jackets and sweeping leaves in a car park for two minutes.

Mirror’s Edge is visually stunning and is a great antidote to the endless swarm of futuristic shooters doing the rounds. Some may argue that it’s a great tech demo, and nothing more, but hey, I probably spent more time watching the infamous Amiga Juggler demo than I have ever done playing say, Call Of Duty.

So, support EA’s new direction and buy this game! Otherwise you will only have another Road Rash sequel in your hands in 2010 and I will blame you personally for killing the video game industry. Yes, you.

So, “Oblivion In Space” seems to be how one defines this game, which, depending on how you viewed the tedious, plodding RPG could well have an influence on whether you buy this one. Personally, I’m going to create a one-man “Keep PC Games Off Our Consoles” campaign. Yeah!

After a decade of being a devout ISS/PES fanboy I, like many others this year, finally caved into buying EA’s oft-maligned but now officially ‘ace’ FIFA.

A month of solid playing has now passed. I’m hooked and have no regrets, this year, this was definitely the right choice judging from the 360 PES demo, at least.

Hopefully PES can get its act together again, even if it has to take a few years break as competition has definitely improved both series over the years, but it’s going to be hard to keep up with FIFA, especially if it continues to improve as it has done in leaps and bounds in the last few years.

I must admit I’ve never played a Call of Duty game. They seem to be just one step away from subscribing to Solider of Fortune magazine and gunning down squirrels in your spare time.

Buy hey, it does at least have a semi-amusing fishy acronym and there does indeed seem to be  (perhaps worryingly) a “Market”. If that market includes you then check out the COD prices (gurgle) below. Ra!
