Not much has changed since the Gamecube incarnation, you get the usual special characters for the fanboys (Ware and Snake from Metal Gear Solid this time around) and the various shallow game modes which are no match for what we all came hear to see – multi-player sofa mayhem (TM).

Still, it’s all good fun, in a post-ironic kind of way. Whatever that means…

The virtual personal trainer also promises to dish out motivational quotes (e.g. “Hey, Fatty Bom-Bom!”) at irregular intervals to keep you on your toes as you attempt the 500 or so difference exercises on offer, which focus on different areas of your body, e.g. strength training, remote control thumb, cardiovascular etc.

Wii Balance Boards aren’t strictly required as not all of the mini-games actually make use of them, but at least it will make a change from playing Wii Fit. If you haven’t got enough cash to buy some Balance Boards then thankfully all games are backwards compatible with the old Nunchuk/Wii Controller combo.

Featuring over 50 mini-games for the Wii, this game will a great Xmas present for Wii owners looking for an escape from traditional festive games this year.

This is another of those Wii mini-game compilations that provide outstanding VFM as they might say in womens magazines, but with a, you guessed it, carnival theme. Includes such family favourites as throwing stones at the carnies as they attempt to pack up their gear.

You might laugh now, but in forty years I guarantee this will be your retro game of choice in the hospice.

PGA Tour 09 on the Wii is Tiger’s third outing on Nintendo’s baby and is his best so far, providing some welcome depth to the Wii’s notorious roster of causal games.

Fitness and video games? Who ever would have thought this would be such a hit with the chubby public.

Great ploy to sell consoles though, akin to the ‘it will help them with their homework’ home computer ruse of the 80s, when in actual fact all we did was play Perils of Willy on the VIC-20.

Not only that, Nintendo have also managed to persuade the rotund hordes to also purchase an additional peripheral, the Balance Board, which almost costs as much as the console itself. Genius!

Which, of course, means that similar titles will be in the offing, with Mario and Sonic at The Winter Olympics a nailed-on certainty, although personally I would prefer to see Mario and Sonic at The PDC World Darts Championship in time for Christmas 2008. Throw in some drinking mini-games and that would easily result in The Best Video Game Ever.

Following on from the relative success of the quite revolutionary PES approach to Wii football (think Command and Conquer with players instead of tanks), Fifa 09 All-Play is by all accounts a similar game, with the added polish you would expect from EA.

In summary – like football? Have a Wii?  Then you’re probably interested in getting the best price on Fifa 09 so check the table below.

Still, it might spark the musical genius latent in a few British kids this Xmas, and it has to be more interactive than merely watching the X-Factor.

So bravo, Nintendo, whilst I retain an ounce of sympathy for parents who will have to endure a MIDI Xmas, as this will no doubt fly off the shelves and perhaps cause another Wii Fit panic.

Ah, Wii Play. The game you always add to your Wii bundle as it includes a “free” Wiimote controller.

In actual fact, the game itself is not that bad, but probably wouldn’t stand up as a £30 game in its own right now that the Wii has far more capable party titles on offer.

Still, a free controller IS a free controller, and with the minimal price difference between getting a standalone Wiimote and this Wii Play bundle you would have to be bonkers to not take advantage.
